1. “A teacher of God is anyone who chooses to be one. His qualifications consist solely in this: somehow, somewhere he has made a deliberate choice in which he did not see his interests apart from someone else’s.” In essence, then, he saw his brother’s interests as the same as his. He saw that they both share the same goal, and the same destination. He has chosen to join with his brother, rather than to judge him as different and thus to separate from him. “Once he has done that, his road is established and his direction is sure.” No one promises him that there will be no bumps in that road, or no detours, but he has chosen to go in the right direction. That is something. Those who choose aright, begin aright.

Previously this new budding teacher of God was in the dark, meandering* around unsure of who he is, and who his brother is, where he is ultimately headed, where he is most needed, where he can best simultaneously serve his own interests and the interests of the world, or what meaning life has for him or for anyone – even if he thought he knew all these things. In essence, he was a teacher of the ego; he was a teacher of doubt and confusion.

Now a light has entered the darkness. He has seen his interests as the same as another. Now his direction is sure. He has entered into an agreement with God even though he may not be aware of that as yet, or even if he does not yet believe in Him. He may be in the early stages of teaching; he may be a beginner.** But that does not matter. He has become a “bringer of salvation.” He has become a “teacher of God.”

**beginner -- A beginner will step back, as beginners are aware that there are things they do not know. A beginner will usually acknowledge that he or she is a beginner and may therefore be more willing to be taught than those who already think they know a thing or two. This is one reason why beginners often have such great success. This is encouraging and often is one of the reasons why beginners continue with the Course. In this world, everyone has to begin somewhere. Where better to begin than with God? Beginning with God is a wise choice. ☺

2. “They come from all over the world. They come from all religions and from no religion.” The Call is universal. The ones who are chosen are the ones who answered the Call.

“Many are called but few are chosen” should be, “All are called but few choose to

listen.” Therefore, they do not choose right. The “chosen ones” are merely those

who choose right sooner. Right minds can do this now, and they will find rest unto

their souls. God knows you only in peace, and this is your reality.” (T-3.IV.7:12-16)

Jesus says that everyone will answer in the end, but the end can be a long, long way off. The function of God’s teachers, therefore, is to save time. “Each one begins as a single light, but with the Call at its center it is a light that cannot be limited.” There are NO LIMITS on the Son of God. With the Holy Spirit guiding and leading, teaching and loving, there is nothing that even the budding teacher of God cannot do when fully stepping back and fully accepting the help of the Father. And each one who answers the Call to become a teacher of God saves a thousand years of time as the world judges it. Yet to the Call Itself, time has no meaning.

3. “There is a course for every teacher of God.” Every teacher of God has a spiritual path assigned to him by the Holy Spirit. The form it takes may vary greatly. This is part of the reason we cannot judge what another does. We are not privy to the path to which another has been assigned, only to the path to which we ourselves have been assigned, and we do not always know all of that! We may only know a step at a time, until at the end we look back and see how it all fit together to make the whole. Remember the song with the line: “Step by step, Lord, You are leading me Home.”

But the content of the course, the spiritual path, never changes. Its central theme is always: “God’s Son is guiltless, and in his innocence is his salvation.” No one in his right mind ever thought his salvation lay in his guilt. But few have realized that guilt is not even real. We were created innocent by God, and innocent we remain.

Nothing real can be threatened

Nothing unreal exists.

Herein lies the peace of God.

Innocence may be taught by actions or thoughts, in words or soundlessly, in any language or in no language, in any place or time or manner. It does not matter who the teacher of innocence was before he heard the Call; it only matters that he heard It and answered. The Holy Spirit takes it from there and teaches the teacher to teach. And thus will he be reborn. “In his rebirth is the world reborn.”

4. “This is a manual for a special curriculum, intended for teachers of a special form of the universal course.” The “special curriculum” refers to the Course. That quote plainly states that the Manual is for those teachers who will teach the Course. Jesus says there are many thousands of other forms of the universal course, but they all have the same outcome. They all save time.

Yet time appears to wind on wearily in this world, and the world has become very tired now. It appears worn and without hope for many. Yet “there never was a question of outcome, for what can change the Will of God?” And God wills only perfect happiness for His Son. Yet for some, or even for most, that outcome appears to be very far from reach.

Time, with its illusions of change and death, wears out the world and all things in it. Yet our salvation lies in the fact that time has an ending, and it is this that the teachers of God are appointed to bring about. For time is in their hands by their choice. They know that “time can waste as well as be wasted.” (T-1.V.2:2) And it is their function to see that time is used wisely.

Each day should be devoted to miracles, then, since miracles save time. Each day should be devoted to correcting the false perceptions in the mind that delay the inevitable outcome of happiness in Oneness. The purpose, therefore, of time is to enable you to learn how to use time constructively. It is thus a teaching device and a means to an end. Time will cease when it is no longer useful in facilitating learning. (T-1.I.15)

So spend your “time” learning from the Teacher Who is in you. And listen to the teacher (who listens to the Teacher), who is in front of you. And you will learn:

Timelessness belongs to God. In time we exist for and with each other.

In timelessness we coexist with God.

His salvation does not lie in guilt, because guilt is not real. It does not lie in his job, because jobs change and they are not real. It does not lie in his possessions, because they change and they are not real either. Anything that changes is not real. His salvation lies in God creating him innocent. His salvation lies in the fact that time and all its illusions have an ending, including the illusion of guilt. In timelessness we coexist with God.

10. Miracles save time. So devote each day to miracles -- to the correction of all false perceptions in your mind to leave it clear for truth and only truth. The truth will set you free. When your mind is finally free of all illusions, you will remember who you are, who your brother is, and Who GOD IS.
