Principles of Miracles -- Review 41-50

Principle 41: Wholeness is the perceptual content of miracles. They thus correct, or atone for, the faulty perception of lack. T-1.I.41:1-2

Q: What is the only lack you really need correct? How did it arise?

A: The only lack you really need correct is a sense of separation from God. It arose by distorting your perception of truth and thus perceiving yourself as lacking. T-VI.2:1-2

Q: Since God created you, are you invulnerable?

A: The mind that serves spirit is invulnerable. The body reflects the mind. T-1.IV.2:10

Q: What does “Except ye become as little children” mean?

A: It means that unless you fully recognize your complete dependence on God, you cannot know the real power of the Son in his true relationship with the Father. T-1.V.3:4

Q: Will everyone complete the Atonement? Will even one be lost?

A: Ultimately, every member of the family of God must return. Not one will be lost. Truth will prevail with ALL. Whatever is true is eternal, and cannot change or be changed. T-1.V.5:1

Q: What is your part in the Atonement?

A: Merely to return your thinking to the point at which the error of separation was made, and give it to the Atonement (for correction) in peace. T-5.VII.6:5

Principle 42: A major contribution of miracles is their strength in releasing you from your false sense of isolation, deprivation and lack. T-2.I.42

Q: How does this world deny itself everything?

A: By dissociating itself from everything. It is an illusion of isolation maintained by fear of loneliness. T-8.IV.2:1-3

Q: What is Jesus’ purpose?

A: To overcome the world -- as his light dispels it. Remember you are one with his light. T-8.IV.2:8-13

Q: How do you deny the world.

A: By accepting that Jesus is with you. His will is God’s. As you hear Jesus, you hear God's Voice. T-8.IV.3:8-11

Q: How do you receive peace (joy, love, happiness)?

A: If you want to have it, you must give it! T-8.IV.4:1-4 There are no exceptions with God.

Q: What is the Will of God?

A: That you, His Son, have everything. And you were created as everything. Therefore, what you have is what you are. Remember that His Will for you is Perfect Happiness; you will have only that. T-26.VII.11:1-5

Q: Why could depression not have been “created”?

A: Creation is sharing. Depression is isolation. Therefore depression cannot be a part of creation. T-10.V.5.6-8

Q: What is the path between sacrifice and deprivation?

A: The path of truth. Deprivation and sacrifice step back as truth comes forth in you to lead others. W-155

Q: Can you make decisions by yourself?

A: No. Decisions are made with spirit or with ego. What kind of day do you want? T-30.I.14:7-9

Principle 43: Miracles arise from a miraculous state of mind or a state of miracle-readiness. T-1.I:43

Q: Do miracles abound in Heaven?

A: No. Miracles are corrections of misperceptions. There are no misperceptions in Heaven. T-1.V.1:1

Q: What is the miraculous power of the spirit?

A: Spirit knows God completely. Therefore, so do all His Sons! T-3.V.9.3-5

Q: What is the goal of the miracle-minded?

A: The complete restoration of the Sonship. T-1.VII.3:9-10,14 Everyone MUST accept the Atonement for himself.

Q: What is the only device at your immediate disposal for controlling time?

A: The miracle. As errors are corrected, you learn the truth. In truth there is no time. T-1.I.48:1

Q: Does forgiveness involve judgment?

A: No. Judgment is unforgiveness. Remember that the Holy Spirit does not see error, only light. Forgiveness is not “looking at the error and judging it.” Rather, it is “looking past the error to the light.” T-2.V.A.16:1-6

Q: Does Jesus intervene between your thoughts and their results?

A: No. It is much more helpful for him to remind you to guard your thoughts more carefully. T-2.VII.1:6 “Jesus cannot let you leave your mind unguarded, or you will not be able to help him.” T-2.VII.2:1

Q: How do you rid your mind of fear?

A: Retain only loving thoughts in your mind and fear will have no place in it. T-2.VIII.5:10

Q: Why must you rid your mind of fear quickly?

A: Because you must emerge from the conflict to bring peace to other minds. T-2.VIII.2:8

Q: What is the Last Judgment?

A: Judgment is not an attribute of God. The Last Judgment is a process of right evaluation. It means that everyone will finally come to understand what is worthy and what is not. Until this distinction is made, the vacillations between free and imprisoned will cannot but continue. Just as the separation occurred over millions of years, the Last Judgment will extend over a similarly long period, and perhaps longer. Its length can be shortened by miracles, the device for shortening but not abolishing time. If a sufficient number become truly miracle-minded, this shortening process can be virtually immeasurable. T-2.VIII.2:1-7 Here we are, Lord. Use us. ☺

Principle 44: The miracle is an expression of an inner awareness of Christ and the acceptance of His Atonement. T-1.I.44

Q: How do you learn the meaning of love? Can it be taught?

A: Love is beyond what can be taught. One must simply remove the blocks to the awareness of love. T-in.1:6-7

Q: What is the recognition that leads to the healing power of the miracle?

A: Miracles reawaken the awareness that the spirit, not the body, is the altar of truth. T-1.I.20:1-2

Q: Does the Holy Spirit believe in time?

A: No. Yet the Holy Spirit uses everything you have made for His purpose, including time. T-6.II.10:1-2

Q: What is the difference between the ego’s projection and the Holy Spirit’s extension?

A: The ego projects to exclude, and therefore to deceive. The Holy Spirit extends by recognizing Himself in every mind, and thus perceives them as one. T-6.II.12:1-8

Q: Does darkness abide anywhere in the Kingdom of God?

A: No darkness abides anywhere in the Kingdom, but your part is only to allow no darkness to abide in your own mind. Each of us is the light of the world, and by joining our minds in this light we proclaim the Kingdom of God as one. T-6.II.13:1-5

Q: What is the miracle a sign of? What is the abundance of Christ a result of?

A: The miracle is a sign that the mind has chosen to be led by Jesus in Christ’s service. The abundance of Christ is the natural result of choosing to follow Him. T-1.V.6:1-2

Q: What is the First Coming of Christ? What is the Second Coming of Christ?

A: The First Coming of Christ is merely another name for the creation, for Christ is the Son of God. The Second Coming of Christ means nothing more than the end of the ego’s rule and the healing of the mind. Jesus was created like you in the First Coming of Christ, and he has called you to join with him in the Second Coming. T-4.IV.10:1-3

Q: More about the Holy Spirit . . .

A: The Holy Spirit is the Christ Mind which is aware of the knowledge that lies beyond perception. He came into being with the separation as a protection, inspiring the Atonement principle at the same time. Before that there was no need for healing, for no one was comfortless. T-5.I.5:1-7

Principle 45: A miracle is never lost. It may touch many people you have not even met, and produce undreamed of changes in situations of which you are not even aware. T-1.I.45:1-2

Q: What is your function in Heaven? What is your function on earth?

A: God shares His function with you in Heaven of creation, so the Holy Spirit shares His function with you on earth of healing. If you believe you have other functions, you will need correction. T-12.VII.4:4-6

Q: How do you know the Holy Spirit if you cannot see Him?

A: You can see His manifestations. Unless you do, you will not realize He is there. Miracles are His witnesses. Perceiving His results, you understand where He is, and will know what He is. T-12.VII.4:1-3

Principle 46: The Holy Spirit is the highest communication medium. Miracles do not involve this type of communication, because they are temporary communication devices. When you return to your original form of communication with God by direct revelation, the need for miracles is over. T-1.I.48:1-3

Q: How does illness occur?

A: If the mind believes the body is its goal it will distort its perception of the body, and by blocking its own extension beyond it, will induce illness by fostering separation. Perceiving the body as a separate entity cannot but foster illness, because it is not true. The body is given to the Holy Spirit to use as a medium of communication. To use it for anything else brings unwanted results. T-8.VII.11:1-6

Q: What is the only way to guarantee help and healing?

A: The removal of blocks is the only way. To know God’s miracle (yourself) is to know Him. T-3.V.8:9

Q: Brother, what is your will?

A: Your will is to remember the Father. Choose Holy Spirit as Guide, and you will know Him. W-231.h

Principle 47: The miracle is a learning device that lessens the need for time. It establishes an out-of-pattern time interval not under the usual laws of time. In this sense it is timeless. T-1.I.15

Q: How are we to live on this earth?

A: Jesus asks you to live so as to demonstrate that you are not an ego. T-4.VI.6:2

Q: What is the only gift Jesus wants?

A: Your gratitude to your brother. To know your brother is to know God. T-4.VI.7:2-3

Q: How do you get closer to Jesus?

A: As you come closer to a brother you approach Jesus. And as you withdraw from your brother, Jesus becomes distant to you. When you disengage from the Sonship, you disengage from Jesus, too. God will come to you only as you will give Him to your brothers. Learn first of them. Every brother has value to you because God is in him. See him as the glorious Son of God. T-4.VI.8:1-6

Q: What does “Fear God and keep His commandments” mean?

A: Know God and accept His certainty. T-3.III.6:4-7

Q: Why is arrogance the denial of love?

A: Love shares and arrogance withholds. T-10.V.14:1-5

Q: How do you get from time to timelessness?

A: Look to the Holy Spirit and Jesus to remember eternity. Look as they look and understand as they understand. Miracles help you do this, so be open to give and receive them, and to look only on the eternal. Accept only what is timeless as real to understand eternity. T-10.V.14:1-9

Principle 48: The miracle is the only device at your immediate disposal for controlling time. Only revelation transcends it, having nothing to do with time at all. T-1.I.48:1-2

Q: Why do the ordinary considerations of time and space not apply to miracles?

A: A miracle is an out-of-pattern time interval and thus abolishes the need for lower-order concerns, like the concerns of time and space. T-2.V.A.11:1-3

Q: What is evolution?

A: It is a process in which you seem to proceed from one degree to the next. You correct your previous missteps by stepping forward, but you are actually returning to the truth that you never left. You were created in truth and will remain there in reality, though not in dreams. T-2.II.6:1-3

Q: What is the Atonement’s unique relationship to time?

A: Until the Atonement is complete, its various phases will proceed in time, but the whole Atonement stands at time’s end. Once the bridge of return to the truth of creation has been built, there is no longer any need for time so it is then over and done. T-2.II.6:8-10

Q: What is meant by “the meek shall inherit the earth”?

A: Meek means “gentle, noninterfering, deferential to spirit.” The meek will literally take over the earth because of their strength of spirit. They have no need of the ego of the world thus they pass it by as nonexistent – because it is nonexistent and thus cannot block the truth of spirit. T-2.II.7:1-5

Q: When can the meaning of the wholeness of the Sonship be understood?

A: The Sonship in its oneness transcends the sum of its parts. It can only be understood fully when ALL of the Sonship has returned to truth. T-2.VII.6:1-6

Q: What is the difference between readiness and mastery?

A: Readiness is only the prerequisite for accomplishment. It is the potential for a change of mind and it is the beginning of confidence and mastery. The only real mastery is through love. T-2.VII.7:1-9

Q: How do you save time?

A: A holy relationship is a means of saving time. One instant spent together with your brother restores the universe to both of you. Now you need but to remember you need do nothing. Focus on this rather than on what you should do. Save time for Jesus by only this one preparation, and practice doing nothing else. Believe it just one instant, and you will accomplish more than is given to a century of contemplation, or of struggle against temptation. Time has been saved for you because you and your brother are together. This is the special means this course is using to save you time. Do you understand this? Probably not as yet, but you will – in time. Ask Jesus for help. T-18.VII.6:1-4

Q: Okay, so why does doing nothing help you save time?

A: To do anything involves the body. And if you recognize you need do nothing, you have withdrawn the body’s value from your mind. To do nothing is to rest, and make a place within you where the activity of the body ceases to demand attention. Into this place the Holy Spirit comes, and there abides. And He will remain with you when you forget to rest. T-18.VII.7:1-9

Q: Can you rest in God and still use the body?

A: Oh, yes. This quiet center in which you do nothing will remain with you, giving you rest in the midst of every busy doing on which you are sent. You will keep this restful center in your awareness. And from this center you will be directed how to use the body sinlessly. T-18.VII.8:1-5 (Read more about this.)

Q: Where are you safe and complete forever?

A: In the Heart of God, reached through the Atonement and upheld by timelessness. T-16.IV.13:7

Principle 49: The miracle makes no distinction among degrees of misperception. It is a device for perception-correction, effective quite apart from either the degree or the direction of the error. This is its true indiscriminateness. T-1.I.49:1-3

Q: Can you get angry at a fact?

A: It is always an interpretation of the fact that gives rise to negative emotions, regardless of their seeming justification by what appears as fact, also regardless of the intensity of the anger. M-17.4:1-11

Q: Why does it appear hard for miracle impulses to reach your own awareness?

A: Distorted perceptions produce a dense cover over miracle impulses, such as the confusion of miracle impulses with physical impulses (which are misdirected miracle impulses). Just remember that all real pleasure comes from doing God’s Will. T-1.VII.1:1-7

Q: How do you recognize an error?

A: By its results. A lesson truly taught can lead to nothing but release. T-1.VII.1:1-7

Q: Why is correcting perception merely a temporary expedient?

A: Misperception is a block to knowledge, while accurate perception is a stepping-stone towards it. In truth, all perception is unnecessary. Perception is subject to degrees whereas knowledge just IS. T-4.II.11:1-4,11-12

Q: Does the Son of God really need to be forgiven?

A: He need not be forgiven but awakened. Only in his dreams has he betrayed himself, his brothers and his God. Yet what is done in dreams has not been really done. In awakening, one is released. T-17.I.1:1-10

Q: What is healing?

A: Healing is release from the fear of waking. The decision to wake is the reflection of the will to love, since all healing involves replacing fear with love. Love yourself, your brothers and your God so you and your brothers will all heal. Let no fear enter the mind of the holy Son of God. T-8.IX.5:1-4

Q: How is the real world attained?

A: Simply by the complete forgiveness of the old, the world you see without forgiveness. The Holy Spirit will help you to carefully search your mind to uncover the seeming reasons for you making the ego world. Then he will show you there is no reason for it at all. Each spot His reason touches grows alive with beauty and all is released to loveliness. T-17.II.5:1-5

Q: What does salvation signify?

A: Salvation signifies the end of dreams. The idea of salvation will become a dream, and vanish from your mind because it will no longer have any meaning. Who, awake in Heaven, could dream that there could ever be need of salvation? T-17.II.7:1-5

Principle 50: The miracle compares what you have made with creation, accepting what is in accord with it as true, and rejecting what is out of accord as false. T-1.I.50

Q: Your mind is the mechanism of decision; what is the mechanism of miracles?

A: The Holy Spirit. He recognizes both God’s creations and your illusions. He separates the true from the false by his ability to perceive totally rather than selectively. T-1.38:1-3

Q: Why do you lack faith in the power that heals all pain?

A: Because of your wish to retain some aspects of reality for fantasy. Unless you give it back, it is inevitable that your perspective on reality will be warped and uncorrected. T-17.I.3:3-6

Q: What must you do, then?

A: Be willing to give all you have held outside the truth to Him Who knows the truth, and in Whom all is brought to truth. Salvation from separation would be complete, or it will not be at all. Yet the Holy Spirit will accomplish it, not you. Remember this: When you become disturbed and lose your peace of mind because another is attempting to solve his problems through fantasy, you are then refusing to forgive yourself for just this same attempt. As you forgive him, you restore your mind to truth. T-17.I.6:1-8

To forgive is merely to remember only the loving thoughts you gave in the past, and those that were given you. All the rest must be forgotten. T-17.III.1:1-2

Q: Can you imagine how beautiful those you forgive will look to you?

A: In no fantasy have you ever seen anything so lovely. Nothing you see in the world, sleeping or waking, comes near to such loveliness. And nothing will you value like this, nor hold so dear. This loveliness is not a fantasy. It is the real world, bright and clean and new, with everything sparkling under the open sun. Nothing is hidden here, for everything has been forgiven and there are no fantasies to hide the truth. The bridge (of Atonement, of forgiveness) between the ego world and the real world is so little and so easy to cross, that you could not believe it is the meeting place of worlds so different. This little step, so small it has escaped your notice, is a stride through time into eternity, into beauty that will enchant you, and will always cause you wonderment at its perfection. T-17.II.2:1-6

Q: What is Christ’s gift?

A: Christ has dreamed the dream of a forgiven world. It is His gift, whereby a sweet transition can be made from death to life: from hopelessness to hope. His dream awakens you to truth. His vision gives the means for a return to everlasting sanctity in God. Let us share His dream and remember God IS. W-159.10:4-8

ADDENDUM:

How much do you want salvation? It will give you the real world, trembling with readiness to be given you. The eagerness of the Holy Spirit to give you this is so intense He would not wait, although he waits in patience. Meet His patience with your impatience at delay in meeting Him. Go out in gladness to meet with your Redeemer and walk with Him in trust out of this world, and into the real world of beauty and forgiveness where GOD IS. T-17.II.8:1-5

The perception of the real world will be so short that you will barely have time to thank God for it. For God will take the last step swiftly when you have reached the real world and have been made ready for Him. T-17.II.4:4

The stars will disappear in light, and the sun that opened up the world to beauty will vanish. Perception will be meaningless when it has been perfected, for everything that has been used for learning will have no function. Nothing will ever change; no shifts nor shading, no differences, no variations that made perception possible will still occur. You will be HOME where GOD IS. T-17.II.4:1-3

PRAYER

As we give thanks, the world unites with us and happily accepts our holy thoughts,

which Heaven has corrected and made pure.

Now has our ministry begun at last, to carry round the world the joyous news that truth has no illusions,

and the peace of God, through us, belongs to everyone.

AMEN
