Miracle Principle 49

Principle 49: The miracle makes no distinction among degrees of misperception. It is a device for perception-correction, effective quite apart from either the degree or the direction of the error. This is its true indiscriminateness. (T-1.I.49:1-3)

The Atonement was built into the space-time belief to set a limit on the need for the belief itself, and ultimately to make learning complete. The Atonement is the final lesson. Learning itself, like the classrooms in which it occurs, is temporary. The ability to learn has no value when change is no longer necessary. The eternally creative have nothing to learn. In the illusion, the dream, you can learn to improve your perceptions, and become a better learner. This will bring you into closer accord with the Sonship; but the Sonship itself is a perfect Creation and perfection is not a matter of degree. Therefore, only while there is a belief in differences is learning meaningful. (T-2.II.5:1-8)

It is easiest to let error be corrected where it is most apparent, and errors can be recognized by their results. A lesson truly taught can lead to nothing but release for teacher and pupil, who have shared in one intent. Attack can enter only if perception of separate goals has entered. And this must indeed have been the case if the result is anything but joy. The single aim of the teacher turns the divided goal of the pupil into one direction (toward the light). His call for love then is easily responded to with just one answer, and this answer will enter the teacher’s mind unfailingly. From there it shines into his pupil’s mind, making it one with his. (M-17.3:1-7)

Perhaps it will be helpful to remember that no one can be angry at a fact, but it is an interpretation of a fact that gives rise to negative emotions, regardless of their seeming justification by what appears as facts. Regardless, too, of the intensity of the anger that is aroused. It may be merely slight irritation, perhaps too mild to be even clearly recognized. Or it may also take the form of intense rage, accompanied by thoughts of violence, fantasied or apparently acted out. It does not matter. All of these reactions are the same. They obscure the truth, and this can never be a matter of degree. Either truth is apparent, or it is not. It cannot be partially recognized. And anyone who is unaware of truth must look upon illusions. (M-17.4:1-11)

The abilities you now possess are only shadows of your real strength. All of your present functions are divided and open to question and doubt. This is because you are not certain how you will use them, and are therefore incapable of knowledge. You are also incapable of knowledge because you can still perceive lovelessly. Perception did not exist until the separation introduced degrees, aspects and intervals. Spirit has no levels, and all conflict arises from the concept of levels. Only the Levels of the Trinity are capable of Unity. The levels caused by the separation cannot but conflict. This is because they are meaningless to each other. (T-3.IV.1:1-9)

Your distorted perceptions produce a dense cover over miracle impulses, making it hard for them to reach your own awareness. The confusion of miracle impulses with physical impulses is a major perceptual distortion. Physical impulses are misdirected miracle impulses. All real pleasure comes from doing God’s Will. This is because not doing it is a denial of Self. Denial of Self results in illusions, while correction of the error brings release from it. Do not deceive yourself into believing that you can relate in peace to God or to your brothers with anything external. (T-1.VII.1:1-7)

Child of God, you were created to create the good, the beautiful and the holy. Remember this! The Love of God, for a little while, must be expressed through one body to another, because vision is still so dim. You can use your body best to help you enlarge your perception so you can achieve real vision, of which the physical eye is incapable. Learning to do this is the body’s only true usefulness. (T-1.VII.2:1-5)

As long as a single “slave” remains to walk the earth, your release is not complete. Complete restoration of the Sonship is the only goal of the miracle-minded. (T-1.VII.3:13-14)

It cannot be emphasized too often that correcting perception is merely a temporary expedient. It is necessary only because misperception is a block to knowledge, while accurate perception is a stepping-stone toward it. The whole value of right perception lies in the inevitable realization that all perception is unnecessary. This removes the block entirely. Knowledge never involves comparisons. That is its main difference from everything else the mind can grasp. (T-4.II.11:1-4,11-12)

The betrayal of the Son of God lies only in illusions, and all his “sins” are but his own imagining. His reality is forever sinless. He need not be forgiven but awakened. Only in his dreams has he betrayed himself, his brothers and his God. Yet what is done in dreams has not been really done. It is impossible to convince the dreamer that this is so, for dreams are what they are because of their illusion of reality. Only in waking is one fully released from them, for only then does it become perfectly apparent that they had no effect upon reality at all and did not change it. Fantasies change the appearance of reality only in the mind of the dreamer. That is their purpose. Yet they cannot actually do so in truth. They only do so in the mind that would have reality be different. (T-17.I.1:1-10)

It is only your wish to change reality that is fearful, because you think you have accomplished it. Yet what you give to truth to use for you is safe from all fantasy. (T-17.I.2:1,5-6)

Right-mindedness is not to be confused with the knowing mind (knowledge), because it is applicable only to right perception. You can be right-minded or wrong-minded, and each way is subject to degrees. This clearly demonstrates that knowledge is not involved. (T-3.IV.4:1-2) Knowledge just IS.

Healing is release from the fear of waking. The decision to wake is the reflection of the will to love, since all healing involves replacing fear with love. The Holy Spirit cannot distinguish among degrees of error, for if He taught that one form of sickness is more serious than another, He would be teaching that one error can be more real than another. His function is to distinguish only between the false and the true, replacing the false with the true. (T-8.IX.5:1-4)

The Bible enjoins you to be perfect, to heal all errors, to take no thought of the body as separate and to accomplish all things in the name of Jesus. Yet his name is not his alone, for the Son of God is a shared identification. The Name of God’s Son is one, and you are enjoined to do the works of love because you share this oneness. Minds are whole because they are one. (T-8.IX.7:1-4)

You have surely begun to realize that this is a very practical course, and one that means exactly what it says. Jesus would not ask you to do things you cannot do, and it is impossible that he could do things you cannot do. Given this, quite literally, nothing can prevent you from doing exactly what he asks. He gives you no limits because God lays none upon you. When you limit yourself you are not of one mind, and that is sickness, signs that the mind is split and does not accept a unified purpose. (T-8.IX.8:1-5,7)

The real world is attained simply by the complete forgiveness of the old, the world you see without forgiveness. The Great Transformer of perception will undertake with you the careful searching of the mind that made this world, and uncover to you the seeming reasons for your making it. Then He will show you that there is no reason here at all. Each spot His reason touches grows alive with beauty, and what seemed ugly in the darkness of your lack of reason is suddenly released to loveliness. Not even what the Son of God made in insanity could be without a hidden spark of beauty that gentleness could release. (T-17.II.5:1-5)

All this beauty will rise to bless your sight as you look upon the world with forgiving eyes. For forgiveness literally transforms vision, and lets you see the real world reaching quietly and gently across chaos, removing all illusions that had twisted your perception and fixed it on the past. The smallest leaf becomes a thing of wonder, and a blade of grass a sign of God’s perfection. (T-17.II.6:1-3)

From the forgiven world the Son of God is lifted easily into his home. And there he knows that he has always rested there in peace. Even salvation will become a dream, and vanish from his mind. For salvation is the end of dreams, and with the closing of the dream it will have no meaning. Who, awake in Heaven, could dream that there could ever be need of salvation? (T-17.II.7:1-5)

How much do you want salvation? It will give you the real world, trembling with readiness to be given you. The eagerness of the Holy Spirit to give you this is so intense He would not wait, although He waits in patience. Meet His patience with your impatience at delay in meeting Him. Go out in gladness to meet with your Redeemer and walk with Him in trust out of this world, and into the real world of beauty and forgiveness where GOD IS. (T-17.II.8:1-5)
